Son of Kata and Walter Newman.
Born in Haifa on the 18th of august 1944.
Was killed in a terrorist attack on the 26th of May 1948 in Israel's war of independence.
He was killed and buried in Nahariya.

Biography

Daniel, the son of Kata and Walter Newman, was born in Haifa on 18.8.1944 and lived his very short life in Nahariya. His parents were members in the "Halootz" organization. They immigrated to Israel in 1937 as they were escaping the Nazis and were among the first settlers in Nahariya.
Daniel was an active smiley boy, who loved playing with toy cars and toy trucks. He learned at "Gan Hava" in Nahariya.

The small Moshava of Nahariya was bombed 5 times in the war. The first of those bombing was devastating, when on the 26th of May 1948, at the afternoon; two Syrian airplanes came above and threw 3 bombs. One of the bombs hit a building in the city center- at the "Shderot HaGa'aton" street, and destroyed it completely.
Five dead people were found, one of them was little Daniel. He was sitting with his mother in a barber shop, which was on that same building, and was killed right away. His mother got injured.
Daniel was only 3 1/2 years old.
After his death, his parents had another child; it was a girl that was named after Daniel; her name was- Daniela.

Daniel was buried in the military cemetery in Nahariya, and he has been perpetuated in Bet Yad LaBanim in Nahariya.
